Candlelight at New Years
What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year, with an intimate wedding by candlelight! This couple had some specific requests and ideas about how they wanted their wedding to be and I got busy to hand-craft their religious ceremony. They wanted to bring two witnesses, and, they wanted me to choose the venue rather than having to worry about finding one for themselves.
The crafting began by decorating their Wedding Candle
This was kind of fun because I started thinking about how I could make this event special for them while using a small community room to perform the ceremony. I solicited the help of my dear friend and we began to put our heads together. The crafting began by decorating their Wedding Candle. The bows came next and before I knew it there was a beautiful sheer drape hung from the ceiling to create an archway that defined the space for my couple. We had more than a dozen candles lit and as they walked into the room and I heard a gasp of air. They were thrilled!!
A prayer for peace
The ceremony was beautiful. Not wanting to write their own vows, I offered several choices from a prepared list, that I gave them ahead of time. The creativity of my couples never ceases to amaze me. They took all of the vows, mixed and matched and added a little of their own. The vows were perfect. During the ceremony I spoke to the witnesses, asking them to love and support my couple in the newness of their married lives together, and, a prayer for peace was offered just before pronouncing them husband and wife.
“I had no idea what to expect”
There was time for a toast before my couple needed to hurry off for a special marriage dinner. I asked if their Best Man would like to say a few words and he was completely taken back. He just kept saying, “I thought we were just coming here to sign some papers. I had no idea what to expect, but now I realize that you are really married bro”!! And he also said, “I even had a part to say as your witness. I have to take this seriously”. He had us all laughing with him as he expressed his enthusiasm. What an awesome group they were. It was such a pleasure to meet them and I was so pleased to perform their ceremony.
