When Love Comes Calling

Featured article in Real Weddings – by Vancouver Magazine

When Love comes calling it doesn’t just stop with the couple. Its embrace is felt by everyone around them. And it’s not just family, friends and guests, it’s the photographer, the wedding coordinator, the doormen at the venue, and, of course, ME!

Real Weddings Magazine thinks so too.  In an article written by Lucy Lau, outlines the details of my couple’s wedding, captured from the planning stage of their romantic ceremony to the fine eats that everyone enjoyed.

Here’s the venue. The beautiful Bloedel Conservatory located in Queen Elizabeth Park.  Lush tropical plants in every colour of green, exotic flowers giving a pop of colour here and there and striking multi-coloured birds of all sizes, on the ground and in the air. Our photographer, Victoria of Wild Hearts Collective did an amazing job taking these pictures.  I’ve had the pleasure of working with her in the past and would do so in a moment, again.

Behind the scenes, this was a sweet, intimate ceremony for a couple that couldn’t wait to get married.  As everyone arrived, their guests were asked to take a quiet moment to hold the wedding bands in a Ring Warming Ceremony, offering hushed well wishes and blessings for a happy marriage.

They walked into the ceremonial area together, greeted along their way by 35 of their closest family and friends.  Their guests stood around the couple, cradling them as they said their Vows to one another.  Part of the way through the ceremony I found myself heckled by a resident on-looker – a peach coloured Cockatoo – and had to stop, mid-sentence to acknowledge him and thank him for his two-cents worth.  They were so excited to be pronounced a Married Couple that they both started to vibrate near the end of the ceremony.  As they sealed their union with a Kiss, caws and squawks (from our fine feathered friends) joined a resounding round of applause and shouts of joy, as if there were 100 guests.

I just LOVE these two and I loved performing their ceremony. Thank you both for such kind words.  Here’s what they said about their ceremony:

“Thank you so much for everything you did for our wedding – you were so much more than an officiant! Your guidance was invaluable – you helped make the whole song and dance of planning a wedding a much smoother ride! And the ceremony was beautiful – thank you for your consideration and understanding of us as a couple. It fit us beautifully. We’re so grateful!”
